Genome wide regulation of protein function by metabolites

PhD/Honours project

A newly identified metabolite-binding motif has been discovered that is present in multiple proteins in almost every arm of metabolism and signal transduction pathways. In most cases they are orphan metablolite-binding motifs where the identity of the metabolite is unknown. Training will be provided in a number of techniques including protein crystallography, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, protein expression and purification, mass spectrometry, primary cell culture, genetic mouse models.
