Bookings, charges & training

Bookings

Bookings can be made by SVI staff through the equipment booking site via the intranet. External users should contact The Facility

  1. Select Equipment Booking from Quick Links (right hand side of intranet homepage)
  2. Log in with your user name and password.
  3. Select the relevant machine and make a booking via the calendar

Charges

Usage fees are charged for the cell sorting service and use of the analysers. Fees are based on the following hourly rates and are billed in 15 minutes increments with a minimum usage charge of half an hour for analysers, and minimum one hour for sort bookings – the greater of time used vs time booked will be billed.

Instrument SVI Hourly Rate External Hourly Rate
LSR Fortessa $50 $65
FACS Aria $75 $115
Influx $85 $120

Cancellation of LSR Fortessa analyser bookings will be charged for the duration of the booking if cancelled within 12 hours of the intended commencement of the booking.

Cancellation of Aria & Influx bookings will be charged fees accordingly:

> 48hrs notice = no charge
24 to 48hrs notice = 1hr
<24hrs notice = duration of time booked

Additional operator assistance (technical help or for data analysis) is available if needed and is charged at $50 an hour. Consumables are to be supplied by the user, or may be purchased through the facility. Sheath fluid and cleaning agents for the machines are supplied onsite.

Training

All new users, regardless of experience, must be inducted and trained by a Flow Facility Staff Member prior to using the instruments. Contact us to arrange for appropriate training and induction. This covers sample preparation, cleaning of equipment, observance of booking schedule and adherence to PC2 safety procedures.

Training on either analyser will incur a once-off fee of $150 for a 2 hour session – this applies to individual or group (max 3 persons) training sessions, with the cost to be split equally among members of the training session.

Whilst lab members may assist new users performing experiments, an initial training and induction must occur first so that the user is aware of lab rules and instrument care.

Data Management

All users are responsible for transferring and safekeeping of their own data. Whilst the Facility regularly backs up the computers and archives old data, no responsibility is taken for lost or damaged data. Transfer your data at the completion of your session via the available web-server. External USB drives are not to be used.

Facility Acknowledgement

Contributions to publications and presentations should be listed in the acknowledgement section with the name of the SVI Flow Cytometry Staff member that made those contributions and the SVI Flow Cytometry Facility Address.
