Ways
To Give

“Timing counts. Not just in medicine, but in philanthropy, too. I invite you to support our ground breaking research without delay. Patients and their families are depending on us. Hope begins here.” Professor Tom Kay, SVI Director’

Your generous support will be a tremendous source of inspiration for SVI as we make discoveries that improve the health of Australians.

For more information on any of the following giving channels, contact Kate Barnett, Chief Executive of the SVI Foundation, at [email protected] or (03) 9231 3265.

REGULAR GIVING It might not seem like much, but giving as little as $0.95 a day for 12 months can do more for our medical research than you might think. Your recurring monthly donation powers our scientists’ work to improve health and longevity for you and your loved ones.

DISCOVERY FUND Each of our SVI Discovery Fund members has made a visionary investment in the future by helping to build a permanent endowment that, once the Fund reaches $5 million, will generate a stream of income in perpetuity to: develop innovative research initiatives, recruit and retain top researchers, bridge the gaps in grant funding cycles, purchase state-of-the-art equipment.
Members of the SVI Discovery Fund are a remarkable and likeminded community. Members see first-hand the latest breakthroughs in research at SVI, get unprecedented access to SVI’s world-class researchers, catch up with old friends and meet new ones. They also enjoy behind-the-scenes tours and exclusive event invitations, including the annual Discovery Fund Member Luncheon, hosted by Christine and Sam Tarascio.
The financial security provided by SVI endowment funds enables the Institute to take a long-term approach to medical research. The SVI Discovery Fund portfolio has a higher return objective than other SVI endowment funds. It has performed well for many years despite volatile global financial conditions.
Members of the SVI Discovery Fund make a tax-deductible gift of $50,000. Such gifts can be pledged over a period of up to 5 years. Many members have renewed their support for a further 5 years after completing their pledge to the SVI Discovery Fund, or simply continue to donate $10,000 on an annual basis. One-off gifts of all sizes are also gratefully appreciated.
CATALYST CIRCLE We believe medical research is one of the most effective ways to improve the health of our community. The SVI Catalyst Circle is an annual gift recognition program focused on gifts that can make an immediate impact on medical research. The SVI Catalyst Circle is focused on recognising gifts of $10,000 or more in cumulative annual giving to help fund the purchase of powerful equipment and instrumentation that benefits SVI researchers across disciplines. The goal: to give our researchers every advantage they need to push the boundaries of medical research and redefine what is possible. “As a Board member, I have met many of the Institute’s scientific researchers – men and women who are recognised and respected not just nationally but internationally for their work to overcome cancer, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer’s disease. I have learned that it is not enough to recruit outstanding scientists to SVI. We must also provide them with a research environment that supports their work at the highest levels. Our laboratories, tools, and technologies are critical to our research. They are the staging area needed to break scientific ground. It is essential that we maintain a state-of-the-art research environment – regularly updating labs and investing in new technologies ad the latest scientific equipment.”
IN MEMORIAM If you are arranging a funeral and would like to request that people donate to SVI in lieu of flowers, we can supply donations slips, envelopes and a drop box at short notice. Call 9231 2480 or email [email protected] and we will arrange delivery for you.
SPECIAL OCCASION If you, your family or friends have been touched by disease, making a donation to SVI in lieu of a birthday, wedding or anniversary gift is a wonderful way to show that you care while supporting medical research. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of a gift or ask guests to your celebration to support SVI in lieu of a gift to you, call 03 9288 2480 or email [email protected] We can also provide customised donation slips for your invitations.
BEQUESTS The Jack Holt Society honours those who have provided for SVI in their Wills. Jack Holt left the first bequest to the Institute with the goal of providing long-term financial stability to pursue cutting-edge medical research. The Jack Holt Society includes the Institute’s most committed supporters who provide the resources to invest in the future of medical research. Please consider joining SVI’s Jack Holt Society today. Members receive special recognition and invitations to exclusive events. For more information, or a confidential discussion about a gift to SVI in your Will, contact Kate Barnett, Chief Executive of the SVI Foundation, at [email protected] or (03) 9231 3265.
“I have visited SVI and met with the dedicated scientists who are working tirelessly to find the answers to our questions we as a society want to know. I see my bequest as an investment, knowing that my support will be used for the benefit of the whole community. Remembering SVI in your Will is a simple and powerful way to make a positive difference for the health of our children. My wife, Pauline, died of Alzheimer’s disease so by visiting the institute I was able to find out what we know about the disease and the promise that research holds. I feel very humble and grateful to be able to be a part of assisting the scientists at SVI to continue their research.” - Arthur Stokes
“My late husband, Rex and I decided to support medical research. We did a lot of our own thorough research and were very impressed with St Vincent’s Institute and the calibre of their people and work. We wanted to support the future of medical research for the benefit of the next generation, and you can do the same.” - Pamela McCorkell
