After eight years of service as SVI Board Chair, Tony Reeves is handing the torch to fellow Board member, Michael Burn.
Michael Burn is currently Chair of SVI’s Audit and Risk Committee and is an experienced C-suite executive and company director. He has enjoyed a long career in investment banking and is currently the Deputy Chairman of Flagstaff Partners.
“The opportunities before SVI such as those associated with the new Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery, ACMD, are significant,” says Michael.
“Tony is incredibly generous to SVI in many ways. I’m proud to follow him as Chair,” says Michael.
“SVI has benefited from Tony’s extensive leadership and governance expertise,” says SVI Director Tom Kay.
“His focus on leadership by example, mentorship and encouragement of professional development for SVI leaders, including myself, is greatly appreciated,” said Tom.
Tony says he’s delighted that the role of Chair will be in the capable hands of Michael.
“Our strategy is fit for purpose, and it gives me great satisfaction to see SVI continue to attract global talent, increase competitive and philanthropic funding, and collaborate to make leading-edge discoveries,” says Tony.
“Margaret and I will continue to participate in SVI’s vibrant calendar of events, including helping support the inspiring and dedicated researchers wherever we can.”
The change will be effective after the annual general meeting on 12 May 2025.
